Ameera Milham

I would like to run for Cardiology chair as I believe I am well-equipped to bring out the most from this role. I have previous experience from being the chair of Vascular Surgery for Surgical Society. Within this role, I led a team of nine and held numerous events including talks and a systematic review series in collaboration with a prominent journal. Previous to this year, the Vascular Surgery subcommittee did not have social media or a logo giving me the opportunity to establish both. Moreover, I have also experience from being on the pilot committee of BMMA as an outreach officer as well as experience from being on the Student MedAid London committee. Within these roles, I've had to liaise with doctors, organise events including research opportunities for students, and interestingly, I even wrote a blog post about cardiovascular health in migrant populations. Furthermore, I am currently doing an iBSc in cardiovascular sciences providing me with substantial scientific knowledge that may be required for this role.

Hiruna Diyasena

If selected for the role of Cardiology Chair, I aim to create more opportunities for exam-focused learning, career networking, hands-on experience and collaborative research. Additionally, I will strive to organise informative and engaging events to educate our members about the latest developments in the field and insights into the profession. As a UCL pharmacology mentor and SBA author for Elsevier, I have extensive experience in medical education. I aim to work closely with other committee members to directly apply this to cardiology by creating more SBA-focused revision sessions in particular. Additionally, having ranked first in my second year of medical school and completing my dissertation on cardiovascular disease in my third year, I feel I have the aptitude and passion necessary to succeed in this position. I am committed to the success of our society, and I believe that my academic achievements, teaching experience, and passion for cardiology make me an ideal candidate. Given the chance as Cardiology Chair, I will aspire to be all that is expected of me and more.
