Hey, I'm Helena, a first-year BSc Computer Science student. I am running for UCL MSoc Events Director as I am passionate about bringing Malaysian students together through planning events for MSoc and fostering a sense of community among Malaysians. I understand that it can get difficult at times to study abroad, away from your family and friends, which is why I wish to play a part in helping students to feel belonged to a supportive community in a brand new environment.

On top of that, I hope to promote Malaysian culture, and of course, Malaysian food, to students from all over the world, by organising events that welcome students of all nationalities and backgrounds. My vision is to make Malaysian culture more known to our fellow international friends and to see a more diverse group of people taking part in MSoc events.

What pique my interest in running as an event director is the strong leadership, professionalism, and commitment of the current BODs. I'm in awe of how they are able to knit the community together into one giant family. They definitely assisted me in opening up when we spent time together at activities because they played such a big role in this family. As an events director, I have always been drawn to the creative aspect of event planning. I enjoy brainstorming unique ideas and coordinating all the moving parts. The process of taking a concept from a simple idea to a fully-realized event is something that really excites me. I am passionate about event planning and I believe that I have the skills and personality traits that would make me successful as an event director. I am devoted to run as an events director because it offers me the chance to bring people together to create life-changing experiences.
