Mary Connolly

Hello everyone! My name is Mary, and I am a 1st year Information Management for Business student running for Design Officer in the Japan Society. I had a great time being part of this society this year, and I’m excited to contribute to upholding its traditions, reputation, and enhancing the overall society experience.

Japan Society primarily communicates through social media such as Instagram & Facebook. By creating consistent and engaging content, I plan to optimize the use of these channels. Some ideas I have include bi-monthly calendar posts on future events and recap posts. These would allow all members, regardless of their commitments, to be well-informed of our society's events and maximize participation.

New content that I believe would be informative and valuable for marketing are posts about where you can find snippets of Japan in London. We have many members who are living in London for the first time, as well as those who want to learn more about Japan. Finding "insider information" such as good restaurants, Japanese supermarkets, and alternatives in the UK. These could be made more accessible through the expertise of the marketing team.

Japan Society has been an amazing way to meet other Japanese people and those who value the culture here in London. It's an important community that allows many, including myself, to connect with our roots or learn about the Japanese culture and language. It would be a delight to contribute to the society as the Design Officer.

Li-Hsuan Lin

Hi everyone!

I am Li-Hsuan Lin, but feel free to call me Tommy. I am a first year physics student who likes traveling, reading novels, and watching animes. I have participated in some social and caltural events held by the Japan society this year. These events not only introduced me to some Japanese traditions, but also enabled me to make new friends. I also attended to the Japanese lessons given by the society, it povided me useful techniques for learning Japanese. By joining these activities, I have an enjoyable experience for my first year. Therefore, I am looking forward to take part in the society more next year.

I am passionate about designing arts and making crafts. In high school, I have made a wood charm by designing it through sketches. The art skills I had would help me through my work as a design officer. Furthermore, I had been elected as a class leader in the school time. This experience help me develop the ability to create a positive atmosphere among classmates, collaborate with others, and resolving problems. These skills would allow me to work smootly and to create designs that capture people's thoughts.

I believe my previous experiences and passioon for Japanese culature would help to promote the fun activities and the fulfilling language lessons organised by the society. Thank you very much for your consideration. よろしくお願いします。

Sincerely,

Li-Hsuan Lin (Tommy)
