Hamza Hasan

Assalamu’Alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I’m Hamza, a third year Economist and I am running to be your treasurer. UCL has been the first time I’ve experienced being part of a tight-knit community. Our way of life is fundamentally a communal one, our beloved Rasul ﷺ commanded us to “establish the congregation, for the wolf eats the isolated sheep.” The Islamic Society has been at the centre of my time at University - from being an avenue to finding close friends to being the cradle of my own spiritual growth. I pray that I can contribute and give back to this community, and insha’Allah take it to new heights.

Some of my plans as Treasurer include:

  • Work with the rest of the committee to create a fun and enjoyable environment for Muslims on campus through regular bi-weekly socials, as well as other community events such as BBQs, go-karting, ice-skating, paintballing etc, all catering towards a unified Muslim body on campus.
  • Maintain ties with existing sponsors and build new relationships with sponsors, Muslim organisations & charities.
  • Take advantage of potential grant applications to also increase our budget
  • Explore the potential of our alumni membership as sponsors for ISoc events or through ticketed alumni activities.
  • Liaise with the SU and UCL to establish long-term  funding for Ramadan on campus, which will be during term time for the years to come

JazakumAllahu Khayran !
