Shagun Shrivastava

Hello! My name is Shagun and I am running for the position of VP of Events at UCL Investment Society. Through my involvement with the society, I have attended numerous events and have witnessed firsthand the positive impact that the society has on aspiring investment bankers. UCLIS has allowed me to develop the essential skills needed to be an investment banker while enabling me to expand my professional network.

As the current treasurer of the UCL FFFB society, I have gained valuable experience in event planning, budgeting, people management, marketing and speaker outreach. Additionally, my experience as the President of the Economics Club in high school has further equipped me with the skills necessary to fulfil the duties as the VP of Events.

If elected, I plan to host a diverse range of events, including socials, alumni networking events, skill development workshops, inter-university competitions, guest lectures etc. My goal is to provide members with a variety of opportunities to connect, learn and grow.

As a culmination of my interests in event planning, investment banking, and finance, I believe I am an ideal candidate for the position of VP of Events at the UCL Investment Society. Thank you for considering my candidacy:)

Justin Lo

Hi everyone, my name is Justin. I study statistics, economics and finance and I am running to be your events VP.

In my current role as the UCLIS first-year representative, I have made contributions to different departments. This gives me a solid understanding of the demand for this role and how UCLIS runs. My participation in organising the UCL financial conference highlights my journey in UCLIS, this experience demonstrates my communication and event-holding skills. Also, seeing the success of the UCL financial conference further motivates me to take on this leadership position at UCLIS and to give back to our members.

If elected, I will carry on with the events held by previous committees such as coffee talks, pub socials and expand UCLIS events variety in order to accommodate the different needs of our members. Also, I aim to forge great relationships and hold events with different societies. With cross-society events, there will be more networking opportunities and potentially open up career paths for members. Cultivating a welcoming and inclusive environment is also one of my main agendas, it is important for all UCLIS members to feel like they are part of the community.

Having been in numerous leadership roles and events holding positions, I believe I am a strong candidate for this role. I recgonise the importance of this role and look forward to bringing exciting and fulfilling events to all.
