Sohum Sen

Hi everyone, I'm Sohum, a third-year Mathematical Computation student, and I'm excited to apply for the position of Sponsorship Officer for Indian society.

Over my three years at UCL, I have held various society committee leadership roles ranging everything from Director to Treasurer.

As the Sponsorship Officer, I'm passionate about building relationships and generating deals to bring new initiatives to life.

My experience as Treasurer has provided me with the skills to build a reliable network of sponsors. As Treasurer, I've worked closely with the President and senior team to achieve our objectives and accomplish the following:

  • Growing our member base to an all-time high (300+), making us one of the most active and vibrant societies on campus.
  • Securing large sponsorships (£3k+) for the first time ever, allowing us to fund more initiatives and increase our scale.
  • Being the go-to contact for all matters with the Students Union ranging from navigating form submissions to liaising with them whilst on tight deadlines and managing finances.

My strengths in organization, communication, and teamwork make me a strong fit for the Sponsorship officer role. I am confident that with my skills and experience, I can create outstanding experiences for all members of Indian society.

Krish Chundawat

I am standing for the sponsorship officer role because I am excited about the opportunity to develop my negotiation skills and build connections with businesses while promoting the Indian Society at UCL. I have a strong interest in event planning and fundraising, and believe that serving as a sponsorship officer would allow me to use these skills to benefit the society and its members. Additionally, I see this as a chance to make a meaningful impact on the society by securing sponsorships that will enable the group to host more events and activities for its members. Finally, I am motivated by the prospect of collaborating with other members of the society and the wider UCL community to create a vibrant and inclusive environment.

Manasi Dedhia

Hi I’m manasi and I’m running to be sponsorship officer as I have loved being part of indian soc this year and connecting more with my culture, hence I would like to be part of the team creating a indian soc family that all members can make the best memories in!

By securing the top sponsorships deals we will have greater opportunities to put on unforgettable events which with my commitment and drive, I am certain I can significantly contribute to. I have always enjoyed working in teams and being deputy head girl at school means I have organised events and liaised with a variety of people. My level 2 certificate in financial education coupled with my enthusiasm to learn equips me with the skills required to draw up the sponsorship forms and carry out the contractual agreements.

Communication is one of my strengths, demonstrated by the fact I was part of a telephone service helping to battle loneliness throughout covid, therefore am equipped with the interpersonal skills required to work with the marketing team and effectively liaise with sponsors. I understand the sheer amount of work that goes into putting on these large scale events and so I am confident that with my resilience, organisation and negotiation skills alongside the rest of the team we can get the best sponsorships and put on the biggest indian soc events this year!

I’m energetic, love to get involved and have some fun so I hope I get the opportunity to be part of this committee!

Mehak Swani

Hey everyone!

My name is Mehak, and I’m currently a first-year PPE student from Singapore. I believe Indian society has created a vibrant, lively, and encouraging community for people from various backgrounds, and as Sponsorship Officer, I would like to help carry on this legacy.

I think sponsorships and finance are integral parts of running events like Jashn and Dhamaal, after all the bigger the budget the bigger the bar. If I were given the opportunity to be your sponsorship officer, I would introduce more collaborations with societies, and also organize fundraising events, such as a charity cook-off, which would encourage member participation and raise money for a good cause.

My experiences as a first-year representative for Women in finance, and Outreach Director for TEDx have honed my financial management acumen and enabled me to form connections with large firms. These skills would allow me to organize events that appeal to and are enjoyable for all members of the society.

Lastly, I hope to increase the funding for socials so members will have access to a larger community of Indians at UCL, and form connections that last.

Darshini D Bhudia

Hi! I’m Darshini and I’m a first-year Geography student. I enjoy interacting with new people and I believe that I would be an effective candidate for the role of Sponsorship Officer.

Having been a member of Indian Society for a few months now, has made me realised the fun culture within the society. The enjoyable events that they consistently put on is something I would enjoy contributing to through the role of sponsorship officer. During sixth form, I took on the role of cultural prefect and House Captain which required me to make events possible, whilst on a budget. An example of an event I held was a culture day which included a fashion show and food stalls and I regularly held house competitions. In order to make these events possible, I was required to work with a team to create ways of raising money and reach out to companies to create deals to assist the fashion show. Thus, developing the skills of teamwork and leadership, and having experiences of raising funds, will make me an effective candidate for the role of Sponsorship Officer. Not only will I be able to communicate with companies interested in helping raise funds for the society, but I will also be able to communicate with other teams such as the Marketing team. Having me as the Sponsorship Officer for UCL Indian Society will guarantee bigger and better trademark events such as Jashn and Dhamaal, alongside the stability of the society holding the title of the greatest and largest cultural society in London!
