Hi, my name is Jay and I am a first year philosophy student. Horses have always been my favourite animal and this year I have finally picked up horse riding again. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder when I was 14 and it has been bothering me since. During first term, I was unable to find a way to relax and didn't join any societies. This term, however, I started doing horse riding regularly. Horse riding has been the perfect way for me to take a break so far, feel another living creature and cooperate with them. Sometimes I find socialising with humans too tiring, and horse riding offers a fantastic chance to experience another kind of intimacy. Normally, I am a very competitive person, but when things come to horses, all I want is to have a good time with them.
I want to share my experience of horse riding with more people. In general, I like to help people with similar experience as me in whatever way. I am also very familiar with the UCL wellbeing system. If you just want to talk, please don't be discouraged by my angry looking face, I am just shy, and I always welcome people to talk to me about everything.
As a welfare officer, I aim to collaborate closely with the social secretary to host some wellbeing related social activities. Plus, you can probably see me at most of the lessons (I try really hard to get the tickets), so if you have any concern, you can always come to me after the lessons to have a chat!
(Btw, say hi to Scooter from Iceland! He is lovely.)

Hi everyone, my name is Yolanda, and I’m thrilled to nominate myself for the position of welfare office in our club. As a horse riding enthusiast and a person who cares deeply about the well-being of others, I am standing for the position of welfare officer in our horse riding club.
As a welfare officer, I would work to ensure that everyone in the club feels safe, supported, and included. I’m committed to our clubs’s mission of creating a welcoming environment for all our members, including our animal members. I would be a compassionate listener and advocate, and I’m confident that my communication skills, my experience in working with others, and my passion for horse riding and well-being make me well-suited for this role.
Thank you for considering my nomination. I would be honoured to serve a welfare office and contribute to the continued success of our club.
