Hello! Being a student who deferred entry I appreciate how important a strong media presence is for encouraging perspective members to join. On my gap yah, browsing the Instagram accounts of the societies I wanted to join really influenced which tasters I attended when I arrived. I didn’t attend events for certain clubs, despite being interested, because infrequent posting on their Instagram made the club seem inactive and less inviting to newcomers.

This is an amazing club with great match results, players, social and charity events which can be better advertised on the Instagram. If I am chosen, in addition to regularly responding to questions and posting training times I plan on posting line ups for matches and match results for every match happening that week and also include players of the match and pictures from during the matches. Also, I would like to post about charity and social events to make perspective members see how fun hockey is and want to get involved!

As a dedicated member of UCLWHC who attends trainings, matches and socials, I guarantee that if I am media sec there will be lots of communication between myself and the presidents, social secs and the captains to ensure that every team's accomplishments are represented on the Instagram account.

I am standing for the position of media secretary to ensure that the UCL Women's Hockey Club continues to grow and engage members through social media. I have had previous experience running an instagram account when I was at school, from which I have gained vital experience in managing posts and replying promptly to comments and DMs. I believe this will be particularly useful at the start of next year, as I would want to ensure that the instagram account is the main line of communication between the club and potential new members. Since Instagram is the primary way to engage with freshers, I would make sure to be organised and prompt in my replies so that new members are aware of important dates such as trials and any sessions before the term has officially begun. As the year continues, I would like to continue posting training times and fixtures, but also pictures from matches, socials, and footage from events such as "This Girl Can" and the Club Charity Quiz. This would improve club engagement and encourage members to get involved with everything the society has to offer.

Because I have enjoyed the take-off of the twosareloose Instagram, I would love to be your media sec and improve the social media output of the club. As a relatively senior member I know what’s going on a lot of the time and who do ask if I don’t. Because of this, I wouldn’t struggle to monitor the club DMs and reach out to the right person for response.

Keeping followers up to date, posting stories every Wednesday night, and what’s on and weekly round-up posts would be implemented more consistently, and I would start to post team sheets for all teams weekly to build a sense of belonging. It would also be important to make sure that the charities we support next year are represented clearly on the Instagram and I would produce new, informative posts about hockey in Black History month and Pride Week. When I was a silly silly fresher I didn’t know what was going on or how to find out which was really nerve wracking, therefore, I want the page to be somewhere that future members can go to see what to expect in terms of hockey and the social aspect of the club.
