I have decided to run as mixed captain with the intention of carrying on the more social side of the game.

Any club as big as UCLHC is at risk of being too socially team-based or exclusive, and I think the mixed team is a step in the right direction to make sure this isn't the case. As a fresher, the team has allowed me to create friendships with people that I wouldn't otherwise have had the chance to meet- and continuing this is great for the next cohort, enabling them to meet other like-minded students while playing the sport we love.

I see myself as a suitable candidate as I'm a liked active member of the club who regularly attends socials, and is not too scandalous. I have a good relationship with members of teams other than my own from both the men's and women's clubs, and am a friend and course mate of Ally, who is running for the women's position, which will make coordination much easier.

Social, pressure-off hockey is a great way to make sure the sport stays light-hearted and fun, offering a release from BUCS games and just uni work in general, and I think the value of it can be underplayed. I'll be able to find the balance between taking games seriously enough to try and win, without being over competitive- which is surprisingly common from what I have seen in other mixed teams.

A queue-jump to scala doesn't sound too shabby either.
