Candidates

Siddarth Anand Nayar

Hi my name is Sid- I am a first year studying Maths and CS and I’m running for the position of Marketing and Sales Officer. Having attended nearly every event hosted by Hsoc this year, I want the freshers of next year to have similar experiences as I had this year. Be it Garba, Diwali Ball or Rangeela, every event was organised and executed perfectly. I hope to contribute to the committee and help make next year’s events as memorable.

In my opinion, the marketing and sales position is quite an important one, and I think I will be ideal for the role because of my experience as part of the leadership strand and sales team for events in my sixth form. With the help of social media, I hope to maximise our outreach and ensure the Hsoc events are always oversold. Using the Take me out TikTok as an exemplar, I want to make every promotional video and poster entertaining and engaging, so as to make the events well known in all the unis around London.

To conclude, I am proud to be a member of Hsoc and I will do everything in my power to help it grow immensely. As Marketing and Sales officer I will ensure next year’s events are bigger than ever before.

Shagun Shrivastava

Hi! I'm Shagun and I'm standing for the position of Sales and Marketing Officer. I want to take on this role because I believe in the power of marketing and promotion to spread awareness and create a positive impact. I'm passionate about Hinduism and promoting the values of unity, diversity, and inclusivity, and I believe that as a Sales and Marketing Officer, I can help our society reach more people and make a difference on campus.

As a current member of the executive committee for the UCL FFFB society, I have experience in social media and event planning, and I'm excited to put my skills to use to promote the Hindu Society and create a fun and engaging environment for everyone. By bringing people together through events and educational activities, I hope to break down barriers and promote understanding among different cultures and faiths.

I'm excited to take on this role and work towards making a positive impact on campus through the Hindu Society.

Shreya Verma

Hi I’m Shreya and I’m running for sales and marketing officer for Hindu Soc. Having attended many Hindu Soc events, from the socials to the club nights to garba, I have grasped the main selling points which attract the most number of people. I understand the work and commitment that goes towards organising these incredible events and above all the essential marketing which must precede them.

Having previously been managing director for a Young Enterprise company during sixth form, I have experience marketing and selling products. Throughout this process, I played a key role in not only verbally pitching our product to buyers but also making fun and engaging content on our social media platforms. Skills I gained from this include effective communication, teamwork and significant experience with social media. I then developed these through the creation of my food account, “shreyacantcook”, on instagram where I review different cafes and restaurants helping other students discover the best places to eat!

In my free time, I enjoy making and posting TikToks, which has progressed my creativity and understanding of the algorithm. I believe that TikTok is the best way to reach the greatest number of people and I trust that, with the rest of the committee, we could market and sell events on a substantial scale! Overall, I am enthusiastic, love talking to people and would greatly value marketing and selling Hindu Soc events.

Roma Shah

Hey everyone, I’m Roma, a first-year medic running for the position of Marketing and Sales Officer!

Diwali Ball and Rangeela have so far been 2 of the most memorable events I’ve attended since starting at UCL, and it’s how I met some of my closest friends. Joining Hindu Society has helped to reinforce my culture and meet people from similar backgrounds, giving a very homely feeling. I appreciate and am inspired by the hard work and effort that goes into coordinating events, regardless of their scale, and I wish to be a part of the teamwork and collaboration to help provide similar experiences to more people in the future years.

Being a part of the badminton team in secondary school has given me a lot of experience in teamwork and communication skills. I’ve also had plenty of experience organizing parties and events for my close family and friends, and I have recently become a part of the RUMS Events Subcommittee. This, coupled with the marketing and sales skills I gained by promoting and hosting successful fundraising events for the Wings of Hope charity, will help me to excel in promoting and advertising Hindu Society’s events to the best of my ability. I am organised, I get on well with others and work well in a team, and I will strive to make Hindu Society’s events even bigger and better this year.

With your votes, not only will I ensure Hindu Society’s events sell out, but I hope others will be able to enjoy their UCL experience as much as I have so far.

Krish Chundawat

I am excited about the opportunity to develop my negotiation skills and build connections with businesses while promoting the Hindu Society at UCL. I have a strong interest in event planning and fundraising, and believe that serving as a sales and marketing officer would allow me to use these skills to benefit the society and its members. Additionally, I see this as a chance to make a meaningful impact on the society by promoting events that the society hosts. Finally, I am motivated by the prospect of collaborating with other members of the society and the wider UCL community to create a vibrant and inclusive environment that celebrates Hindu culture and values.

Shreeya V Gorasia

I would love to be part of the Hindu society committee. I have loved every single event that the society as organised and looking forward to many more to come.

I found beginning of first year quite lonely and difficult, but it was through this society I made friends and also had a lot of fun. I would love to help more people in a similar situation and make a difference in the UCL community.

I love contributing ideas for events such as weekly mendhi nights, more 'family' activities like Indian food days, and would love to help plan and organise even more as I appreciate the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

It would be a great pleasure to give back to the community whether it's for planning fun activities, celebrating the vibrant and important religious events like holi, Diwali and so much more. There are so many possibilities to bring everyone together.

I was amazed by the rangeela performances and know it would not have been so spectacular without the hard work behind the scenes, and would love to make sure the following years rangeela is even bigger.I know much of the success of the events is form the marketing and promotion through social media and I feel like I'm suited to managing that. I briefly designed logos and often make posters for my own business and feel I can easily apply these skills.

I would be honoured to be part of the society and will do my very best as a marketing and sales officer.

Shreya Pathak

Hi, my name is Shreya and I believe I would be well fitted for the role of Sales and Marketing officer due to my skill set and personality. I have thoroughly enjoyed and participated in the Hindu society events so far such as Garba, Rangeela, and even Take me Out, showing my deep interest and commitment towards the society. Being part of Rangeela, I enjoyed getting back in touch with my roots and connecting with people from similar backgrounds.

Leading Indian dance club in school provided me with the skill set to create promotional material and utilise graphic design to generate videos, posters, and leaflets. I am therefore experienced in editing videos/music and creating innovative and aesthetic Instagram posts. Alongside leadership, I learnt how to effectively communicate and coordinate with other team members to ensure maximum productivity. Due to my outgoing and social personality, I was able to recruit dancers and promote the club as an inclusive environment for all. I am confident I can bring the same mindset and qualities to Hsoc and aim to continue diversifying social platforms to ensure maximum outreach.

Overall, I believe I would be a valuable asset to the society and would love to be part of the Hsoc family!

Mahek Parson

Hi! My name is Mahek, I am a first year who studies Natural Sciences and would love to be on your sales and marketing team!

This year, I joined Hindu Society as an FYR, and I can confidently say that it has been one of my favourite experiences at UCL so far. From the countless messages in the group chat to planning events and the socials, the committee was very welcoming, which allowed me to be involved and understand the innerworkings of the society. This has helped me have a very good idea of how these events are structured and what makes them successful.

For that to happen I believed that new and unique sales strategies are extremely important and would be my primary focus in this role to make the experience for members unforgettable!

I have some previous experience in helping in my local Indian society with running events as well as making posters and promotions for them.

One of the best things about Hindu Society is its diversity of events. Not only does it have partying events such as Diwali Ball but also events like Garba, which allows the essence of this society to shine. Next year, I will strive to make these events the best yet !

Amishi Gupta

Hi, I am Amishi and I would like to be your Marketing and Sales Officer this upcoming year! Hindu Society continues to be a large and appreciated society, selling out events year after year. I aim to continue this and promote our events, whether that be Diwali Ball, Rangeela or Take Me Out, to make them large and enjoyable events for all. To do this, I would create reels, Instagram posts, flyers and posters, reaching and attracting a large audience in an intriguing manner.

So far Hindu Society has done a great job of making their social media very active, and I hope to better this in the next year! As FYR on the UNA Society at UCL, I have had experience making some of the posts on platforms like Canva. Being a visual and creative person, I have explored using software like iMovie, Tiktok, Capcut and PicsArt, which is ideal for the designing side of this role. Together, I believe I can ensure our social media strikes the right balance of informative, appealing and aesthetic.

As a thorough and organised person, I can ensure to keep everyone aware of the latest information, excited for the upcoming events, and engaged with our Hindu society!

Shefali Prasad

Hi, I’m Shefali and I’m a first year Mechanical Engineering student. My experience at UCL so far would be incomplete without the events organised by Hindu Society, namely Diwali Ball, Take Me Out and the club nights. Therefore, I am applying for the role of sales and marketing officer as I appreciate the importance of these events in shaping people’s experience at UCL. Taking on the role of Finance Director of my Young Enterprise team taught me how to monitor sales and create aesthetic, yet comprehensive infographics to relay information clearly. Additionally, I have been developing my graphic design skills through web design projects, which have now further been improved as I’ve frequently been using CAD for my degree. My participation in design challenges, such as Imperial College’s ‘Maker Challenge’, are a clear indication of my passion for innovation and design. I therefore believe my creativity, coupled with my outgoing and confident nature, can help design bold visuals for our Instagram page and engaging ideas for Tik Toks, in efforts to ensure our events sell out in the coming year! Balancing the crippling workload that comes with university, sports and participating in a cultural fashion show has allowed me to collaborate with a range of individuals and learn to manage my time effectively. These are skills which I believe are vital traits of a successful sales and marketing officer, and I look forward to putting in my best efforts to expand our social media presence.

Vaidehi Chauhan

Hi, my name is Vaidehi and I am running to be one of the sales and marketing officers for Hindu Soc next year! I had heard of the events run by Hindu Soc on my very first day at UCL, and from the showcase at Freshers Fair and Simmons Social to Garba, DBall and Rangeela, Hindu Soc has never failed to advertise its events effectively - I would love to be a part of the team working on this next year. Having had experience in designing numerous infographics, social media promotions and flyers for large-scale events at school, this role would allow me to showcase both my creativity and interpersonal skills that I believe are important in making an event successful. I have met so many amazing people at Hindu Soc events and being sales and marketing officer would mean being able to share this with others next year, demonstrating the impact good selling and word of mouth can have. Additionally, being a senior prefect at school has given me not only the leadership, organisation and time-management skills necessary to achieve important targets but also the teamwork that is integral to this role. As someone who has attended all Hindu Soc events this year, I believe that my experience in creative software, communication skills and passion would make me a great fit.
