The position of a Social Secretary will allow me to meet more people from our department as a part of organising Socials/Pub Crawls/Free Pizza Sessions (like the ones we had this year). Moreover, I plan to organise Earth Science related socials in addition  to the Bouldering-Social we currently do at Euston Wall.

Mao Kawakami

The Greenough Society helped me as a first-year student by providing me with the opportunity to make new friends and connect with other ES students from different years. I also thoroughly enjoyed attending the social events organized by the society this year, which has inspired me to become a member of the Greenough committee.

As the social secretary, I am committed to ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to meet other members and also professors in our department through a variety of engaging events, not limited to just pub socials and boardgame nights, but also by introducing new entertaining events.

In addition to planning and executing events, I would also work hard to ensure that our society has a strong communication strategy. For instance, by utilizing social media, I believe we can be better connected with our members, keep them informed about upcoming events and encourage their involvement and engagement in The Greenough Society!
