Serra Incekara

Hello everyone!

I am Serra Incekara, a first-year Environmental Geoscience student and I am running for the Green Business Forum Director position.

After my year in the Green Economy Society as the Green Business Forum’s first-year representative, I decided to continue on this path. Helping with the forum’s organisation taught me outreach strategies, collaboration with other universities, and deadline management. Due to my previous experience in the GBF division, I would be perfect for this position.

Before I started university, I also organized a Model United Nations conference that hosted 800 delegates. Although managing big events like these can be stressful, I enjoy the challenge before and the satisfaction after the event.

With my event organisation experience, I have the skills to apply to and improve next year’s forum. Here are some of the ideas I would like to execute next year:

  • gathering speakers from a wide variety of professions like ESG analysts, environmental lawyers, and start-up founders.
  • hosting the Green Business Forum while also collaborating with other universities to organise a bigger conference, different from the GBF
  • hosting a case study workshop at the conference guided by sustainability consultants

These initiatives will provide members with insight into the green economy sector and challenge them to start thinking like sustainability analysts.

Thank you for your time :) I hope to organise the best forum for you guys next year!

Mariya Kachwala

The World Bank estimates that by 2030, 132 million people could be pushed into poverty by climate change. Hence,  Sustainability is our Future.

Therefore, I want to nominate myself for the role of the Green Business Forum Director, because I feel as much as all of us understand the potency of sustainability, the path for getting into a career and make real difference is still vague.

By potentially being the Forum Director, I would make sure this information gap is bridged. With this forum, I plan to host information sessions, events and panel discussions that help all of us answer the questions of where to get started, who to talk to and how to access the correct resources.

Being a member of the UCL Sustainability Council and having worked with two different pan Indian NGOs, I believe I understand thoroughly understand the resources and potential UCL and us students have in bringing a real change and I would hope to use my understanding of that in strengthening the society further.

Therefore, if you believe I am upto the task of fulfilling this responsibility, please VOTE for me and I can surely say I am up for this task and that you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you for taking out your time in reading this! I really appreciate it:)
