Hey everyone,

I'd like to put myself forward for the position of Language Classes Coordinator. Over the past few months, we've seen a exciting and diverse range of languages added to the EEL Society roster, from Cornish to Faroese. These fantastic opportunities to learn and discover new languages and cultures are down to the excellent work of the current committee, which I will build on to maintain and expand the class offerings EEL Society provides.

As Coordinator, I want to widen the scope of languages on offer. I would retain the current roster of classes, but focus on expanding our range of Asian, American and African languages. Currently, we only offer one non-European language - Shanghainese, which I teach. In this role I'd continue to teach, and seek out external teachers to offer many more languages. As a contact and communicator between the society and tutors, I'll find interesting and rare opportunities and ensure availability and regularity of classes and maintain transparency between members and tutors.

While I envision expanding the number of regular (weekly) classes, university teaching limits how much we can put on every week. Therefore, I'd also introduce one off "showcase" lessons for a wide variety of languages held once per week. This would also allow teachers who can't commit to regular lessons to give lessons, increasing the flexibility and range of the classes offered.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you consider me for this position.

Michael
