Harrison Cox

My vision for ELLS is clear, I want to develop awareness of these subjects while creating an interesting, fun and useful society.

I am Harrison Cox, a third-year law with French law student currently on my year abroad. Ever since watching the famous Erin Brockovich film, aged 13, I have been interested in Environmental law.

If elected as your next president, here is what I aim to do :

  1. Create a mooting competition focused on environmental law with a mini-pupillage in an environmental law chamber.
  2. Increase the number of opportunities to interact with industry leaders.
  3. Make ELLS a society where all are welcome to come and learn about the interplay between science and the law and be supported in bringing personal ideas to life.

Having been the sustainability officer for the Law faculty, I had the opportunity to lead a team in organising events focussing on environmental law with guest speakers from the city and leading academics. I also have first-hand experience in organising moots as I was the mock trial officer for Amicus UCL last year. And ultimately, I have great relations within the environmental law team at the Laws faculty as I was recently a research assistant for a prominent environmental law professor.

I hope to make ELLS a society where students, from the moment they arrive at UCL, can pursue their interests in this field. A society that is welcoming, helpful and where everyone has an opportunity to grow.
