My name is Annie, I am a Chemical engineering student, and I would be honoured to be next year’s society President! Fun facts about me is I love movie marathons, peanut butter is ~80% of my diet and I sketch portraits.

From being the Welfare officer and Treasurer for the past two years, my experience has taught me how an effective society works, and how successful events and plans can be achieved. I have helped create a mentorship scheme, marketing events, sorting expenditures and more. This required organisation and communication that I know I can apply as President.

As President, I plan to do:

  • Engineering roles can be very competitive, I will organise more sponsorship events with our sponsors (Bloomberg, GHD etc.) to ensure students have better exposure to industry and what their employer’s need
  • Academic stress is all year round, so I will secure frequent socials for students to relax. This includes student-requested trivia quiz nights, pub socials and big, inclusive events such as the Engineering Ball and our flagship London 2050
  • I plan to collaborate with external societies and departments to establish quality turnouts and expand our audiences
  • Students can be struggling with mental health, isolation, or even money management. I will bring welfare events for students to find support
  • The SU offers many volunteering roles, in cooperation with them, we can recommend different opportunities students (STEM and non-academic) can gain experience in
  • Knowing the difficulties of managing sponsors, events, marketing and
