Election post
In my short time in UCL, I've met a lot of incredible people, been to some outrageously fun events, and generally been able to dive a lot deeper into a huge passion of mine, and I have EMS to thank for a lot of that. While the events and socials never disappoint(!), at the end of the day, EMS is held up by the incredible community that it has created. So, 'publicity' is not really about how many people we can get through the doors at a given event, it is about introducing people to an incredible community where they will hopefully have some amazing experiences with people they would not have met otherwise, learn skills they never thought they would, and share their passion with others.
As an EMS member, I have been involved in a variety of club events as a DJ, as well as generally helping out in other aspects of the society, like hosting DJ lessons and helping with a bit of promotion. While I do not know all the behind-the-scenes of the society, as a freshers rep in this this year I feel I have gained a bit of an insight into how EMS functions, so in a committee position I hope I will be able to hit the ground running.
I really hope I can play a role in helping the community grow to an even bigger size than it is now, which would mean larger, more exciting events, more valuable opportunities for EMS DJs, and loads more hectic experiences with people you may not have met before.
