Haoyu Wang

Hi!

I'm Haoyu and currently the president of the UCL Hedge Fund Society and Gulf Society, the Societies Officer for the Student's Union and the Treasurer for the UCL Government and Politics Society. In such positions, I gained significant experience in management and leadership, while heading a diverse group of talented individuals in delivering wonderful events. I seek to use EFS' resources to amplify my impact and good brought to other students.

I will give 150% effort in combining my experiences of running a society and a clear vision for EFS' future to deliver you my promise of making the EFS the de-facto career spring-board in economics and finance. My agenda thus involves:

  • Collaboration: to incorporate my leadership philosophy based on inclusiveness to jointly undertake projects with other societies, UCL and beyond.
  • Expansion: to promote inclusivity as one of EFS' core values and organise events with an alternative focus in finance, such as start-ups, private equity and so on...
  • Training: to emphasise and build upon EFS' 65+ years of heritage and intensify efforts in training its members to win the best jobs in their respective industry. Whether organising more workshops or expanding our current mentorship programme to allow for more students to get the best jobs they all deserve.
  • Cost Efficiency: to overhaul EFS' functioning to decrease costs, disposing funds for other better uses, such as expanding Bloomsbury Capital.

Thanks for your time and consideration!

Tom Morris

Hi everyone, my name is Tom and I’m running for President. I wish to promote the experience I received as a member and take this society from strength to strength.

I have a variety of experiences that lend themselves to this role:

  • Co-founder of my school’s economics society
  • Worked in investment management for a year prior to joining UCL; organised events with large asset managers
  • Current first-year executive; coordinated initiatives with the current EFS President
  • Organised an introduction to asset management event with JP Morgan

Being an active member of EFS, as well as its constituent Bloomsbury Capital, I have a clear direction for where this society can be taken:

Careers based:

  • Tailoring the successful mentorship scheme to best suit students; split into investment banking, sales and trading, and asset management with specialised mentors
  • Negotiating a spring training programme that could be used to support the mentorship programme
  • Utilise existing networks of myself and other committee members to facilitate exclusive events with senior industry professionals / firms

Socially based:

  • EFS is more than just careers - arrange affordable socials to help everyone form meaningful relationships
  • Promote a safe and inclusive society for all members while providing valuable insight into business, economics, and finance
  • Offer boot camps / competitions for students to develop interpersonal skills

Thank you for your consideration.

Himanshu Keshari

Hello members! I’m Himanshu Keshari, a first-year economics student by profession, a leader by passion, a changemaker by choice, and an EFS member by heart. My vision is clear - creating EFS’s global footprint in entrepreneurship.

I plan to prioritise the following areas as your EFS President.

Wide-ranging Opportunity Platform:  We will host several events, including stock trading simulation, annual global case study competition, stock pitches for Bloomsbury Capital, global business conference 2023, and funding EFS’s own incubator projects.

Inclusivity and Diversity: We will make sure that students from all backgrounds and communities are represented in EFS events and opportunities, thus breaking the barriers.

Transparent and Democratic Leadership: Devising clear communication channelsmember votes in decision-making, quarterly feedback reports and facilitating freedom of information requests.

One Team and One Family: We will ensure that you feel you belong here by creating a volunteering platform for delegating meaningful responsibilities. And yes, we will party hard!

Skill Enhancement and Speaker’s Series: What unites us? Desire to learn and grow. Together, our committee will actively organise exclusive training sessions, Nobel lecture series and Forbes 30U30.

My vision is supported by my leadership experience as the school’s student council president and UCL’s first-year academic rep. As the winner of 5+ national case study competitions, I have gained analytical and business acumen. And having participated
