Ameeqa Qureshi

Hello! My name is Ameeqa and I'm up for the position of Social Secretary for the DRRH Soc. I've witnessed the society grow rapidly over the past year, with members working tirelessly to organize super fun events for us, and would be honored to be a part of the planning processes for the upcoming year. I truly believe that, with support from the Events and Social Media officers, we can create an exciting mix of social and academic events that will appeal to every individual.

Furthermore, due to my previous experiences as an IRDR Senior Mentor and a Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MAPS) Ambassador at UCL, I feel that I am well-versed with the inner workings of the department and have had the pleasure of interacting with the majority of the incredible student and faculty body. I would be so grateful to receive an opportunity to serve the Department through the society so I can expand on these experiences.

Ultimately, my goal is to hear from all of you so that we can shape society events and experiences to be driven by YOUR ideas. So, if want your year to be filled with games and movie nights, networking events, collaborations with other societies and universities, and hopefully an end of the year summer ball, vote for me today!

Haleemah Afolabi

Hi there! My name is Haleemah and I would love to have the opportunity to be your Social Secretary. I am genuinely passionate about the DRRH society, and want to actively participate in its development and growth.

As an Academic society oriented around my degree in Global Humanitarian Studies, I have significant interests in creating a place for people passionate and interested in the niche topic of Humanitarianism and International affairs and a globalised focus on current affairs. Our Degree is only in its second cohort, and as another new addition to UCL, the social life of the students can only be enhanced with the presence of a highly committed Social secretary who is passionate about enhancing the current student experience. I believe that I would devote the time to improving and building on this and listening to your wants and ideas.

I would like to create spaces and opportunities where people can feel open and safe to explore new interests, interact with students of different years alike. Over the past two years, I have grown to know the students that the DRRH society was developed for, closely. I know what social events and student opportunities would enhance our University experience even further, and the opportunity to be part of a society that extends our interests to the wider UCL capacity and all Year groups is extremely exciting.

Vote for me if you want a year of good vibes! :)
