Wasifa Khalid

Hi! I am Wasifa – a 1st year Medicine student. I was the interim Media Officer for DRS from September 2021 to November 2022 (I joined in the last year of my undergrad BSc), and I would like to continue this role next year.

What I learnt during my time as a Media Officer:

> I gained experience and knowledge of how to promote the society and its events by creating eye-catching and informative material for the society’s social media pages

> I understood how to market events in an engaging way to grow our society further

> I applied my previous experiences in planning and marketing campaigns in order to better manage my time and teamworking skills

How I will continue bringing change to DRS:

> I will utilise all my learning points to help attract more students to join DRS by marketing the society on its social media platforms and by creating engaging posters/leaflets for the welcome fairs

> ensuring the social media platforms are up-to-date with upcoming events 

> regularly responding to any messages/feedback from members 

For how common dementia is, I do not believe there is enough awareness. I am intrigued by dementia through my studies and by seeing its impact first-hand at the care home I volunteer at. I would like be the Media Office for DRS so that I can contribute to its aims of raising awareness, and learn more about dementia myself. I can’t wait to promote and be part of all the events - Thank you! :)
