Data Science Society: Vice President

Why me as VP:

- Confident communicator and a TEDx speaker.

- Experience liaising between students and committee members

 - FYR in events committee: Active participant of the DSS and helped organize events like Women in Tech conference.

- Hosted panel discussion at the Data Science Conference 2022 - collaboration between LSE, KCL and UCL DSS.

- I focus on building a network with data scientists in the industry: able to use connections with a lead data scientist at BCG to invite her as a panelist for the Women in Tech event.

- Strong data analysis skills and experience in Python and MySQL, from both my course and self - learning. I can also contribute to the Science team by working with them to organize workshops on technical topics.

What are my goals as VP:

Preference Scheme - Partnering with companies to develop a program for fast track or preference to be given to high performing members of the DSS for spring weeks and internships, based on letters of recommendation from the senior committee members. 

Organizing networking events with DSS at other universities - Great opportunity to connect with students at other leading universities, and companies would find these sessions more appealing than single university events.

I have chosen this role as it gives me the right balance of flexibility and responsibility. As vice-president, I will collaborate with the President and other committee heads to deliver innovative learning experiences to members of the DSS.

As an avid member of the Data Science Society, I hope to give back by taking on the responsibility of Vice President. As VP, I would be dedicated to promoting data science ventures within the society and beyond. Here are a few reasons you should pick me:

1. Experience: I am an incoming Tech Spring Intern at Amazon, summer data science intern for the Hong Kong government, and previously interned as a Systems Engineering Intern.
2. Passion: I am passionate about data science and its potential to make a positive impact on society. As Vice President, I will work to inspire and motivate members of the society to engage with data science and explore its various applications.
3. Leadership: Through student government and club leadership, I have experience managing teams, organising events, and facilitating discussions. As Vice President, I will use these skills to lead the society towards its goals and to promote a collaborative and inclusive community.
4. Innovation: I believe that innovation is key to the success of any organisation, and I will work to foster a culture of innovation within the Data Science Society. I will encourage members to experiment with new ideas, technologies, and methodologies, and to share their findings with the community.

Overall, I am committed to making our community the best it can be. As Vice President, I will work to foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration, and to inspire members to engage with data science in meaningful ways.
