Data Science Society: Head of Research

The research department within the DSS is vital in helping spread awareness of the different applications of data science. My role as the main Podcast Host was pivotal in furthering my appreciation for data science & its uses. I've spoken with people from vastly unique backgrounds and interests, but they all share the common interest of data science; I find it fascinating how this field can tie so many different personalities together.

I really resonate with the Research team’s priority of accessibility. As Head, I hope to establish research challenges/competitions in partnership with companies, with attractive incentives for producing a research paper such as work experience and mentorship. I would also help host roundtable discussions featuring experts and researchers to present their work and embolden curiosity in data science. In terms of increasing the scale and reach of the podcast/blog, I have connections with some guest speakers in mind for the podcast: not just former students but also company representatives, and also emerging topics for discussions surrounding data protection, deepfake technology & security. I’d love to continue the Research division's aim of making data science accessible by hosting research-related events with societies for under-represented communities. With my technical expertise, leadership skills, and passion for research,
