Hello everyone, I’m Auriane and I’m running for welfare and volunteering officer for next year ! Dance Soc has brought me so much in terms of friends, and creativity but also personal growth, and I would love to give back by being on committee.
I really enjoy talking to people, and even though I wish everyone would feel okay, I wish to be a friendly face you can talk to about your problems or worries about dance, work or anything else. We’ll find solutions together.
In terms of volunteering, I already have some experience. I took part in Dance Soc’s volunteering project this year, but back home I would regularly volunteer to cook and deliver food to homeless people, along with organizing fairs and collecting clothes and toys for refugees. I also went to Phnom Penh for a week in a charity that helps educate children there, and I organised an introductory class to music ! With this volunteering background, I won’t have any problem managing Dance Soc’s project.
Along with the Social Secretary, I would love to organise debate sessions where we talk about topics such as what it means to be a dancer, body image in the dance world, gender, the sometimes toxic and competitive environment of dance etc. I think talking about this as a group would help the people going through it and hopefully make them feel better and accepted.
I hope that you will vote for me and in the meantime, stay healthy !
Hey everybody! I’m Clara and I’m really excited to be running for welfare and volunteering officer of Dance soc. This society has been a massive support for me over the past 2 years. I’ve made incredible friendships and been a part of such rewarding productions and events that I want to contribute to that for all old and new members next year. As well as welfare hour where I would be a friendly face to come talk to every week (snacks on me), I’d love to coordinate with the social secretary and organise some low-key events and outings so we can all get our minds off uni for a bit and meet new people. This could be museum visits, testing out cute cafés and such : ) I know first-hand how overwhelming the juxtaposition of uni and dance can be sometimes (even if we love it) so I definitely want to make a point of checking in on everyone and helping out where I can.
I’m also very excited about the prospect of organising a volunteering project! I was part of it in my first year, teaching dances to elderly people in Holborn community centre and it was an amazing experience. I’m also currently a volunteer for St John’s ambulance, so I hope to use my volunteering experience to organise something fun and rewarding! I would love to be a part of a committee with this shared passion for dance : )
