Hi, I’m Sora and I would love to nominate myself for your new Publicity and Design Officer! I’m currently a first year BSc Architecture Student and hopefully I can help Dance Society flourish even more with my creative mindset. I come from Fine Art background, such as oil paintings and ink drawings, but I also draw digitally on my iPad in my spare time for fun.

I understand that the most important part of creating Instagram posts is to have a set theme for each event/show so it is easy to keep up with the information. I have been doing calligraphy since secondary school and I think I can implement my skills I gained from making birthday cards, posters etc for the designs of Instagram posts. I would love to work with other committee members to promote Dance Society with aesthetic and informative posts on Instagram. I am confident working in creative field and I hope I can develop communication and time management skills to keep up with all the exciting events.

This year, I have taken part in Freshers’ Show, Competition Teams and Blooms and Dance Society helped me make friends outside of my degree and I love being part of this community. I hope to become your Publicity and Design Officer to work with lovely, talented dancers across UCL!

Jess M Richard

I've been in Dance Soc for nearly 2 years now, having participated in a variety of different shows, being a Dance Parent and being in the Hip Hop Comps Team, as well as attending the weekly classes, and I feel like the only right next move is to join the Committee!!! Dance Society has been an integral part of my university experience, and that's why I want to be a part of the backbone of the society, so that others can experience the same joy that I have.

I am a second year Architecture student so art and design is something that I have a lot of experience in and do on a daily basis. In summer I did an internship in an Architecture company, most specifically working with the marketing team, and all the graphics and work I created is now featured on their company website. I feel confident in my ability to achieve all the responsibilities that this role entails, I have the skills in Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Procreate and Canva and have access to all of the applications I would need to be able to create some lovely designs. Since I design graphics pretty much everyday, I have got quite fast at it!

As for time management, I was a Head Girl of my secondary school, which meant that it was essential to be able to manage my time correctly, and this year I was able to manage my difficult course as well as a part time job (which I will not be doing next year anyway!) and my dance commitments, which shows that I am capable of handling this role.

That's all!
