I am standing to be the General secretary and Welfare officer in Crook Society as I would like to make an impact in this department and contribute to the activities and events outside of in-class academics. This is not possible without effective communication and organisation within the team as well as with members of staff, students, and external contributors. Making sure that discussions in meetings are carefully noted and translated effectively is essential in being a general secretary. I believe I have the skills in doing this due to my previous experience in leadership.

Having started a society last academic year in my secondary school, that was aimed at science and technology outside of traditional academia, I have always sought-after gaining knowledge and providing a platform and opportunity for others to learn. This position required a lot of skills such as the ability to work in a team, problem solving and critical thinking as well as reaching out to teachers and professors  at universities to give talks at our events. This experience has also made me very flexible in being able to aid with speaking to guest lectures, helping with talks and other essential tasks.

I am passionate about uplifting this incredible department and promote well-being and mental health as important issues. My main aims are to increase student engagement as well as ensure that the society is continuously inclusive to all members and be a source of support in the next academic year.
