Student welfare is a role that I care about, because I know how much sports provides a source of enjoyment for many people during their time at University. I have personally benefited from the atmosphere that RUMS CC during my time. There is a strong sense of community, togetherness and unity that has made the CC an integral part of my life at medical school. I see the role of Welfare secretary as a point of contact for anyone in the society should they have any concerns about their mental/physical wellbeing. I have had some previous experience in this role as Welfare Secretary at the University of London Air Squadron this year. This has helped me understand which aspects I can focus on in the role, and then when to escalate issues further with other members of the committee.

I would like to continue building on the sense of community the committee has this year with a large intake from freshers, as well as working more closely with other societies, because there is a large overlap of people between these other societies and the CC. Moreover, a potential idea I have as welfare secretary which include: creating a digital welfare form where CC members can anonymously (or not) submit concerns they are currently having, and if they would like to discuss it further with myself or another member of the CC that they trust.
