I believe that as students in the same course across different years, a place for us all to meet and be able to interact with each other can make a big difference in our overall university experience as it creates a supportive community with like-minded individuals. In addition to creating this, CSS also helps students navigate their way through their academic and professional journeys, which can be so helpful for those who are lost and in need of guidance. As someone who has experienced the benefits of being a part of this community, I want to give back and help the committee next year.
I believe I am best suited for the role of Welfare Officer. I am a natural communicator and enjoy supporting others. In addition, my previous experience as the president and events manager for the student council at my school has provided me with a broad range of skills that I am confident will benefit this Society and will enable me to guide and assist any other member in need. Furthermore, as a Chinese person who grew up in Portugal and is also a woman in STEM, I believe I have a unique perspective on how to promote inclusivity and diversity, which is one of the things the Welfare Officer has to ensure is included in all activities.
I will always be open to help any member who needs support and will act as a point of contact for those who are struggling. I am confident that my passion for helping others will enable me to be a valuable representative for this lovely community!
