Lucia Kim

Hi, I’m Lucia, and I’m a first year Math Comp student. When I first arrived at UCL, I didn’t know any other Computer Science students, but thanks to the various social events organised by CSS, I got to know everyone better, made lots of close friends, and felt more at home. That’s why I’d love to have the chance to contribute to the CS community next year.

As General Secretary, my goal would be to foster a stronger sense of community among CS students by creating a more vibrant and inclusive space for CS students. In addition to helping coordinate a ton of fun social events, hackathons, and career-oriented activities, I’ll also aim to connect CS students from across different years and courses.

Through CSS events, I got the chance to meet lots of people I otherwise wouldn’t have met because they were studying a different course from me or in a different year group. Being able to connect with students from a variety of backgrounds is extremely valuable, and a great way to broaden the community beyond just our cohorts. By reaching out to more of the CS community, I hope to help make CS Society more welcoming and inclusive to everyone.

I’m confident that I can create a more vibrant society next year, and I’m excited to have the chance to be a part of CSS!

Ahmed Ansari

Hi!

My name is Ahmed Ansari and I wish to be the next General Secretary of the Computer Science society. As General Secretary I wish to foster a welcoming and inclusive community within the society, organize fun events and make the society functions efficiently.

The role of General Secretary presents an amazing opportunity to shape the future of the Computer Science society but it also involves taking on responsibilities, learning many new skills and putting in hard work. As someone who strives for excellence, enjoys taking on challenges and expanding my skill set, I think I am suited to this role.

I believe that the best ideas come from listening to others and I aim to listen to the members of the society and UCL students to receive feedback on projects and come up with new project ideas in line with the interests of the community.  The Computer Science society can be a fun and nurturing environment for people of all technical abilities and degree backgrounds. With this in mind, I wish to work with the society to develop workshops and short courses to serve as a jumping off point into the world of programming and computer science.

The Computer Science Society has allowed me to have lots of fun, learn new skills and gain invaluable knowledge. By becoming a part of this society I have seen how creative, dedicated and welcoming the current committee members are and I wish to build upon their success to make the Computer Science society the best society at UCL.
