Election post
Hi friends! I’m Rebekah, I’ve been part of The Cheese Grater since September and I’m currently on the committee as Online Editor. I’ve been involved in investigations and zine and, more recently, in humour. As I have been part of so many Cheese Grater sections and committed much of my time to aspects like creating the zine website, I understand the dedication the role needs. Investigations' part in championing marginalised voices at UCL is really important to me and I’m keen to devote more hours to Cheese Grater-related endeavours!
I've played an active role in writing articles for all of the issues released this year and so I have a strong understanding of the tone and style of the investigations section and I know how the whole investigations process is formulated. I also have general journalism experience: I was editor-in-chief of two of my school's magazines, I was the editor of my own journalism website where I assembled articles from local schools, and I was part of the Young Reporter Scheme run by This is Local London.
If elected, I’d be really excited to run the investigations meetings! My favourite thing about the publication is the collaborative element and so as investigations editor I would aim to augment this as much as possible. It would be super fun to have more writing workshops because I would love to help others develop confidence in their own writing style as Cheese Grater has allowed me to do! ???
