Cheerleading Club: Level 3 (Strike) Captain

I believe I demonstrate the commitment, energy and compassion to captain Strike through another remarkable season.

Starting in Bolt, I have cheered for 2 years and will have competed 4x, demonstrating my experience and commitment to this sport. As a team player, I always strive to be kind and hype up my teammates, knowing how mentally and physically tough cheer can be.

Off the mat I will always:

• Be involved in the logistics of tryouts/training schedule
• Represent at club events
• Initiate regular captain/coach meetings
• Be responsible for dialogue between committee and team

I aim to not only be a leader for my L3 teammates, but make myself approachable to cheerleaders across the club as someone you can reach out to for advice/wellbeing/to chat. In doing this, I aim to bond all our teams as 1, as well as competitive success across the entire club at ICC and Legacy.

My 2024 Strike aims are:

• Get Strike on the High-Performance programme to receive specialist strength and conditioning coaching from a UCL in-house coach and deserved recognition for the athletic intensity our sport demands. My job at TeamUCL puts me in a unique position to lobby for more SU support of cheer.
• Health and wellbeing as priority - A team manifesto at the start of the year which will ensure a healthy and supportive sporting environment.
• I will give everything I can to get our team of amazingly skilled cheerleaders their 2nd Grand Champs title (2023 being our 1st...)

Hi everyone, this is Karen from Strike. I would like to nominate myself to be the captain next year because I would like to challenge myself with a new position after being the gymnastics captain for the past two years. I believe in my ability on picking the right people to be on the team, cooperating with the coach, leading the team during trainings as well as striving for excellence in comps. It will also be my last year in UCL next year so this will be my last chance to serve the club. Thank you!

Hey I’m Georgia and I would love to be your strike captain next year! Having been a part of lightning for 4 years, in strike for 2 of them and in committee as publicity officer last year, this club has become a huge part of my life. During this time I have had some inspirational captains whom I have learnt a lot from. I think that our strike captain this year has instilled a good balance of fun and hard work at training which has translated into a strong team bond and work ethic. I would like to continue this ethos. 

 As a captain I think it is important to set an example for the team. This year I joined an all star cheer team which has required discipline, resilience and commitment. I have developed a greater understanding of the importance of both dedication and fitness as a cheerleader aswell as what makes a strong team. I hope this will enable me to motivate the team to keep fighting when it gets tough as it’s all worth it at competition! Whilst I may not be the loudest member of the team (we all know first place is hard to beat), having been RUMS tennis social sec last year, I can assure you that I can be a vocal leader. Also, I believe being approachable and fair is vital to resolve any issues amongst athletes on the team. I like to think that I am approachable and certainly not intimidating and I hope this will create a supportive environment in which people can speak up. 

I love this team and I hope you trust me to be your next captain!
