Canadian Society: President

My name is Lucy, I’m a second year history student, and I am running for President! 

Last year, I was the Canadian Society Events Officer. Along with the rest of our lovely committee, I helped to organize events including the sports watch parties, Thanksgiving socials, and the movie night. My role on this committee allowed me to understand the challenges of running a society with many affiliate and full-time students and how best to plan events to fit different ideas of being Canadian.

In addition to my experience on the Canadian Society Committee, I have significant leadership experience from my involvement with councils for my high school, local and provincial level Girl Guides, and the UCL Medieval Society. Through my work on these committees, I have developed crucial leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills. If elected, I will use my knowledge and skills to plan even more amazing events, while making sure our members’ voices are heard by the committee. 

I believe that my previous experience and my enthusiasm for Canadian culture make me an excellent candidate for the role of Canadian Society President. I promise to run a society that will bring Canada to UCL!
