Pragya Agrawal

Hi, I am Pragya, a second-year Economics & Business student, with a keen interest in asset management. I am fascinated by the dynamics of AM where in needs of various investors with different risk appetites and returns are catered to with various products and I wish to learn more about this.

I have been an active part of events organised by the UCLAM society like the Finance Bootcamp and benefited from them and I’ll be joining BNP Paribas this year as a summer intern in their global markets division. As the treasurer of this society, I look forward to giving back to society by being the careful wizard of money and executing remarkable events for all the members!

Victor Ignat

I am writing to apply for the position of Treasurer in the UCL Asset Management Society. As a business enthusiast and a dedicated member of the society, I believe I possess the necessary skills and experience to excel in this role.

As an undergraduate student majoring in Economics and Business, I have completed various courses in accounting, asset pricing, private equity, and investment management. I have also participated in business-related extracurricular activities, including the UCL Hatchery and the Business and Entrepreneurship Societies. Through these experiences, I have gained a solid understanding of financial management and investment strategies.

I am constantly eager to learn new things and gain more experience, and, as a final-year student, this would be my first time applying to a society position. Nonetheless, given my experience so far with managing a business within the Hatchery I strongly believe I have the necessary experience of being a treasurer.

If selected for the position of Treasurer, I am committed to using my skills and experience to help the Asset Management Society achieve its financial goals. I will ensure that the society's funds are managed responsibly and transparently and that all financial reports are accurate and up-to-date. I will also work closely with the executive board to develop investment strategies that align with the society's mission and objectives.

Safwan Ahmed

Hello guys! I chose to stand for this position as I wish to contribute to the society's great events and manage their finances.

Previously, I used to work on Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), where I would seek items at the lowest price possible at shops and sell them at higher prices to customers on Amazon. Working on this process required me to be meticulous with my finances as it's imperative that I was able to track spending and revenue and work out profits accordingly after taking into account various different costs such as product costs, delivery fees, packaging, selling fees and more.

This job also required me to push for profit so I developed a great eye for products and deals that were a bargain, which I already had since I used to be a person that was always on budget during school, such that people would always come to me when they wanted to buy something since they knew I probably knew a good deal. I'm determined as a treasurer that I can ensure that members get the best opportunities, trips and events possible at an extremely affordable price.

I was fortunate to do an internship with BlackRock before university and will be attending Standard Chartered's spring insight in their Investment management division. I enjoyed the skills and culture of working in asset management and found fascinating the strategies they used to build wealth for clients, hence I wanted to become an analyst and develop myself.

Niharika Lal

Hi everyone, I’m Niharika Lal, a second year Economics student running for the post of treasurer at UCLAM. I consider it to be a rich experience to get the opportunity of managing the society’s funds and carrying out administrative work. I am eager to make negotiations for the budget with the student union to conduct unforgettable events throughout the year. I am confident about my strategic and good communicational skills, and I believe that they can be put to the right use. I believe I have a good sense of judgement regarding fund allocation and hence I can advise the directors where and when funds can be saved/ put for a better cause. I’m convinced that I can plan all the events efficiently for the society and work towards achieving common goals.

If I’m elected as your Treasurer, I aim to achieve 3 main goals:

  • Start a fundraising initiative, both to fund events for the society and with the view to raise money and donate to charity if the fundraising was deemed successful enough.
  • Reserve ample funds for events that attract a major proportion of the members.
  • Plan all the events ahead of time and provide an overview of the event through social media to ensure that members are well-informed.

Most importantly, your feedback is much appreciated. Feel free to drop an email at [email protected] if you have any questions. Thank you for your consideration!

Anthony Khoo

Esteemed members of the UCL Asset Management Society,

I am honoured to announce my candidacy for Treasurer and I humbly request your support in continuing our journey towards excellence.

As the Head of Partnerships & Events, I have organised and led speaker events including the talk with a Long/Short Credit Portfolio Manager. I have also been building the society’s partnership network with asset managers, hedge funds, private equity firms, and growth equity firms in order to provide UCLAM members with the unique opportunity to hear, first-hand, from these organisations and have the exclusive opportunity to be fast-tracked to securing spring weeks, summer internships and graduate roles.

As your Treasurer, I pledge to work assiduously towards the society's growth, expanding network and continue the society’s tradition of exceptional performance and equal opportunity. I plan to broaden the society's outreach through consolidating the network of professionals from the Long/Short Equity Academy and finalise the partnerships I am working on. Additionally, I plan to leverage the society's budget to support its social and professional endeavours, including hosting catered venues for networking events and talks and organising society socials.

I hope to propel the UCL Asset Management Society to further success and provide the best possible experience for our members.

Thank you for believing in me and my vision.
