Among the many societies I joined, ASN truly stood out for its sense of stability and strong sense of community. Particularly, as an LGBTQ+ individual, I found ASN to be safe space where I could meet people within the community in fun and unique events. Now, I am excited about the opportunity to give back to this society by taking on this committee position, where I will strive to further enhance and promote LGBTQ+ inclusivity within ASN, and help ensure that it continues to be a welcoming and supportive community for all in the coming year.
hey guys! i'm franz and i am a second-year philosophy student. you'll see me two times on here quite simply because i have enjoyed being a part of the asian social network, and it would be my pleasure to make it as enjoyable (if not more) for current and incoming ucl students in any way i can!
if elected as lgbt+ officer, i aspire to help make the society one of many safe environments for ucl's queer asian community.
being both queer and asian, i understand the common fears of not feeling fully accepted or embraced, especially within a new, larger environment such as ucl. i hope that i am able to alleviate those fears by prioritising the welfare of queer students in the society, such as through lgbt-inclusive workshops and events, continuous mental health check-ups, and safeguarding for students who are not out and require anonymous or discrete assistance for any of their needs - and of course any other additional needs across the society, i will aim to fulfil!
again, it would be my pleasure to join the committee as your lgbt+ officer and help you feel confident during your time at ucl - take care :)
