As a dedicated member of the UCL AI Society for the past two years, I am excited to apply for the role of Head of Tutorials. I believe that my experience as a third-year CS MEng student as a committee Marketing Officer this year has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead the tutorials for the society. This role includes delivering tutorials on topics such as Machine Learning, Computer Vision, NLP and Reinforcement Learning. During my studies, I have taken courses such as ML for Visual Computing, ML for Robotics, and AI and Neural Computing, which provided me with a solid foundation in these areas. My experience as a transition mentor and private tutor has enabled me to develop communication and teaching skills necessary for delivering complex concepts to students.
I am committed to ensuring all members, irrespective of their prior experience, can follow and benefit from the tutorials. Having personally faced the challenges of learning new subject areas, I intend to structure each session so that it starts with the basics and gradually builds up to advanced concepts, making the content accessible to beginners. To increase engagement, I aim to provide challenges with DOXA where students will receive prizes for every submission. I believe that this inclusive approach is essential for developing a supportive and collaborative environment within the society, that can help them reach their full potential and make meaningful contributions in the field of AI.
