Catherine Fomenkova

Hello everyone! My name is Catherine and I was in the Events team this year and I am nominating to be the Treasurer!

I like the atmosphere of the society very much and I hope to be in the committie, so I could help the society to grow and evolve even more, as the treasurer plays a significant role in it.

This year, our budget has played a key role in our events and I am familiar with how it is important for the society's events.

I am also keen to help the society with any issues that it can face, especially the finacial ones!

Nehir Demir

Hi everyone! I’m Nehir, a First-Year Representative at WinF. Being a part of WinF has been a great experience and a way for me to learn the inner workings of our society. During my time at WinF, I realised the importance of empowerment, initiative and support for one another. I am running for Treasurer to build upon society’s success while also maintaining these core values to bring greater diversity to the finance industry.

As treasurer, I hope to further involve each member of WinF in planning our events and great initiatives and in allocating our budget. I look forward to establishing a regular feedback channel for our members to raise any suggestions that they may have. This way, every member of WinF can take the responsibility to maximize our budget in a way that benefits everyone. Secondly, I plan to increase funding for Relations & Outreach division’s great initiatives to better promote gender diversity in many areas such as tech. And lastly, I am determined to expand on the success of our ‘Share the Vision’ Conference and our mentorship programme.

Having experienced WinF’s committee in my first year, I understand society’s inner workings and its relationship with the Students’ Union and I would very much welcome the opportunity to push the objectives of WinF as Treasurer!

Emma Zhang

Hello! My name is Emma Zhang and I am a 3rd year student studying maths.
I developed a deep passion for the events held by uclwinf. For example, I recently attended Share The Vision Conference and this solidified my decision that I would like to be a part of the committee and contribute to the running of uclwinf.
During the current year, I am conducting a consulting project with a team of 5 other people for a health and tech company; at the end the project was successfully presented to our client. This experience allowed me to develop my own interpersonal skills and taught me how valuable it is for me to be part of a team. Due to my passion for finance, I am currently acquiring the knowledge necessary to pursue a CFA certificate. Moreover, my maths degree and my deep interest in finance have given me enough experience regarding to both managing funds and in general maintaining a high level of organisation. I believe these skills of mine would make me a good fit for the role of Treasurer.

Ananya Toshniwal

Hello everyone! To introduce myself, I’m Ananya and am currently in my penultimate year of the BSc Management Science course. I am running for the role of UCL WinF’s Treasurer! The role is a perfect integration of my academic, social, and professional interests, namely- finance, women empowerment, and treasury.

As I hail from India (which is unfortunately quite patriarchal), I see the value that UCL WinF is creating with its activities to promote and empower women in the corporate and Finance world. Furthermore, bulk of my degree focused on finance, sparked my interest in the field and further aligns my passion for the society. Having been the treasurer for UCL YMC over the past year, I am well-equipped with allocating budgets in a way that creates maximum value for society members, organising detailed budgetary checks, trying to forsee and mitigate risks, reviewing invoices, and working closely with the Students Union to ensure timely payments.

For these reasons, I believe that I’d make a good candidate for the Treasurer role and if you think so too, do vote for me! I wish all candidates the best of luck :)

Raman K Hayer

Hi everyone, I'm Raman, and I am delighted to be running for treasurer.

Since joining the society, I've been amazed by the variety of social, academic and career events that have been hosted and would aim to work with committee members to provide more outstanding events. As treasurer, I would encourage open communication with society members to raise suggestions on the different events they would like to see, so the society can maximise the budget to provide events that would benefit all.

My main objective is to ensure the society continues to build upon its strong relationships with sponsors and fellow UCL societies. This would enable us to participate in larger-scale events that allow members to expand their network and finance knowledge.

It is also important not to forget the significance of the outreach programmes such as "CTRL, Your Tomorrow". I would hope to increase funding for these programmes so the society can continue to inspire and mentor young women beyond the UCL community.

As a Mathematics with Economics student, I possess the numerical and problem-solving skills needed to efficiently budget. In my gap year, I worked as a bookkeeper, which required me to verify invoices and reconcile entries periodically. I also helped to organise promotional events; therefore, I possess the skills required to succeed in this role.

Ultimately, as treasurer, I hope to work alongside the president to continue growing this prestigious society.
