Candidates

Ananya Toshniwal

Hello everyone! To introduce myself, I’m Ananya and am currently in my penultimate year of the BSc Management Science course. I am running for the role of UCL WinF’s Head of Events!

As I hail from India (which is unfortunately quite patriarchal), I see the value that UCL WinF is creating with its activities to promote and empower women in the corporate and Finance world. It would be a privilege to be able to organise and lead events to learn from inspiring women, build our own community at UCL, and create maximum value for our society members. Furthermore, I thoroughly enjoy working behind the scenes to make events possible. I believe that I have picked up some expertise running back-end operations through my prior roles as the UCL TEDx Event Manager and the city lead of a NPO, Chattr Chhaya (to support low-wage earning female labourers). These experiences helped me hone my communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills that are directly transferable to the Events Head role. Lastly, bulk of my degree focused on finance, sparked my interest in the field and further aligns my passion for the society.

Overall, the role is a perfect integration of my academic, social, and professional interest namely- finance, women empowerment, and event planning. If you think that I’d make a good candidate for the Head of Events role, do vote for me! I wish all candidates the best of luck :)

Catherine Fomenkova

Hello everyone!

My name is Catherine and this year I was the Events Executive in WinF!

I enjoyed organising various events this year, even though we were restricted. Hence, I have decided to apply for the Head of Events as I want to organise even more socials next year!

Since England is not under restrictions anymore, that means that we could organise events even with bigger amount of people and try new places for socials!

That will be a big opportunity for me to think about unusual events and for you the chance to engage with the society members and the committie!

Hope you have a great time and good luck to everyone else!

Jingcheng Song

Bring the Best:

I'll work closely with the President and Treasurer to host well-organized, structured, and inspiring events. Making the events fulfilling and rewarding is my priority. I'll keep improving the structure of our mentorship programme and reach out to any member who has any problems or concerns.

Previous relevant experience:

During high school, I successfully held Extramural Novice Model United Nation Conference and chaired the Economic and Social Council (about 5 international schools and over 90 students participated). I was also in charge of the tutorial team in the club to offer new members instructions.

Why me:

I'm a determined, enthusiastic, and responsible person. All my experience gives me a certain degree of organizational ability and leadership skills, a relatively stable but with a passion and a strong implementation capacity. I'm confident in bringing a long-lasting contribution to our society and sharing the same mission and vision with other committee members.

Ria Bhandari

I’m applying for the position of Events Director at the UCL Women in Finance Society as I believe I have the ability to manage operations and bring together people in a collaborative space. The networking skills I’ve acquired through my role as Marketing Director for the School of Management Society make me a good fit for the role because of the experience I’ve gained in organising events, reaching out to speakers and guests, working with a diverse team with creative opinions and having a plan of action if things don’t always go the way I anticipate. Having organised social events as part of the society, I found my passion for working with people, and managing all aspects of any event, be it planning event pitches, budgeting, contacting and convincing speakers, networking woth sponsors, and finally marketing the events.

Additionally, I see myself as a fun and friendly person and being an international female student with a passion for the ideas the Women in Finance Society stands for - Diversity, Finance and empowering women to follow their goals - I believe I’ll be able to have amazing collaboration with the team and have a great time organising events and meeting new people!

Looking forward ot being a part of the society!

Mehar Taneja

Hi, I’m Mehar and I’m running for Head of Events this year.  This requires a strong communicator, to reach out to different people. Having done Finance related internships, I’ve appreciated the importance of maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues and believe that I can bring these skills to the society in order to make everyone’s experience memorable. Furthermore, having been exposed to various leadership roles, charity organisations, and events committee’s in the past, I have been able to develop my leadership and team working skills and has improved my ability to work well under pressure. These skills are essential to a successful events officer. Hence, as Head of Events, I will plan, promote and execute events that directly benefit you. I would also look for other creative ways of conducting events. I will also start new initiatives. As an extremely extroverted individual, I’m always easy to approach, and I look forward to hearing all of your ideas, in order to shape the events according to your goals and likings. I know that I will be able to help the society and all of you achieve your goals, by making sure that the events are not only fun and memorable, but also beneficial to your career’s. Vote for me if you want to be part of fun, memorable and life changing events whilst building your career. I hope to see you all very soon :)

Jaya Nagi

Hi! My name is Jaya Nagi and I am excited to be running for the Head of Events position in the Women In Finance Society.

Previously being an active member of the Women In Finance Society during my first year at university, I already know the importance of the events being held. The ‘Share the Vision’ even is an extremely rewarding and inspiring event and I believe it is crucial that similar events and more continue to run within the society.

I believe events should bee able to encapsulate just how broad the finance sector is, as show that there is something for everyone. The events should put a strong message of self confidence and empowerment across, and inspire everybody to work towards their aspirations.

Being part of such a prestigious university such as UCL can come with stress, therefore I believe it is important that the events run by the society are not only helpful and informative, but fin and give people an opportunity to socialise and make friends. I would love to organise a range of events, from Q&A sessions with experienced professionals, to mini-golf or bowling socials to let off some steam during term time.  My main objective would be to make sure there is something for all members to enjoy and take part in.

I feel that I would be a great fit for this role as I am a confident networker and strong team player. I would work closely with the committee members to ensure we do our best for the society!

Sanjana Panicker

Hi! I'm Sanjana Panicker, a second-year Management Science student and an aspiring entrepreneur/lawyer; and I'm running for the Head of Events role at WinF!

As a person, I'm an extrovert, organised and work well under pressure. Prior to joining UCL, I've been the Head Girl at my school in Dubai and have held several leadership positions at other clubs such as Toastmasters Intl., basketball team etc. Leadership roles push me to perform more holistically and allow me to make a positive change in other's lives through my skills. Moreover, coming from a Business-Finance background, I have a good understanding of what this role should ideally focus on for you all. My social skills further make me an ideal candidate for the role.

As your head of events, you can count on me for the following:

1. Work with the committee and ensure that all the events are focused on enhancing your skills.

2. Regularly communicate events so you are aware of the opportunities to learn valuable skills and network - networking meets, speaker events, CV/CL workshops and reviews, etc.

3. Develop not only career-based events but also socials to unwind!

4. Facilitate regular communication to gain feedback and improve the events.

5. Prioritise the resolvement of any issues arising during events.
