Data Science Society: President

Hi guys :)

I’m Melodie, BSc Economics and Statistics student hoping to be your President. As an attendee of DSS weekly Python workshop, I’ve found this society a passionate and supportive community and would love to actively support, in turn, by taking on this role.

Why I fit this role?

•  Great enthusiasm in Data Science: actively participated in 2021 Google Hackathon, LSE Annual Datathon, Citadel Europe Datathon,UCL Tech Soc Porticode 5.0.
•  Solid data analysis skills: advanced R and Python skills gained from my degree and Excel & SQL & Tableau skills from data analytics online course by Duke University.
•  Incoming Technology Spring Intern at Deloitte and current student Digital Consultant for a fintech startup in Malaysia.
•  Strong communication skills gained as a HR intern at Private Equity and Academic Representative for Statistics.

What's my key goal as the President?

•  Reachng out to data scientists and tech firms for partnership to provide memebers with more insights in careers in Data science.
• Creating Mentorship Scheme to connect seniors with freshers through personalized advice on possible career goals and plans.
• Organizing more events in the applications of DS such as datathon, data science projects, and collaborations with other societies (e.g. FinTech).

Data Science is more important than even before. I believe I can help in boosting our society and bring you all an inspiring new year!
