Hi, I’m Antonia and I will be starting my final year of Law in September. I have been a Cath Soc member for 5 years, including 2 years as Volunteering and Interfaith Officer. I have enjoyed my time on committee and would like to serve the society in my final year as your president.
If elected, I will work with the committee to develop and deliver a balanced programme of activities accessible for everyone, Catholics and non-Catholics, no matter the strength of your beliefs. This would include:
Talks on topics that are important to students
Guided discussions
Regular Mass on campus
Interfaith events with other UCL faith societies
Continuation of our volunteering project
Socials and trips that build a strong community
Weekly Bible study and more group prayer
However, I am aware that this will come with some difficulties. First, COVID has reduced our presence on campus; I will combat this by increasing our usage of the contemplation room in the Student Centre, as well as having events on campus, such as providing pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Second, with us coming out of the pandemic, I believe mental health and welfare will need to take a larger role in our events and wider society. Finally, I recognise that all the planning takes up a lot of time; thus, I aim to ensure a balanced workload amongst committee members and a completed working schedule before term starts.
Thank you for reading, God bless!
