Joshua Coop

Heya, my name's Josh and Im a 1st year PhD student in electronic and electrical engineering and i love board games and this society.

I have been very involved in this society coming to the majority of meetings and even helping organise after hours events. I wish to contribute more towards this society and as such i am running for activities officer. Over the last few months I've enjoyed working with the committee and would like to further my efforts in aiding them

Jingyu Chew

Hi everyone! My name is Jingyu and I’m running to be your new activities officer. As your activities officer, I aim to make sure that the events that we hold will be able to accommodate everyone's interests, whether that be playing an intense three-hour session of Dune or a short, heated game of Secret Hitler where fingers are pointing all over the table! Additionally, I hope to maintain the tradition of weekly board games nights–something I think we have all enjoyed throughout the year–while adding events that will attract new members and people to our society, such as holding more collaborative nights with other societies (such as Bubble Tea Society and Food Society). Furthermore, as an international student, I hope to spotlight board games from across the world, and help foster a community that makes everyone feel included; despite our differences, we all share a common love for board games! Finally, part of why I enjoy attending BGS activities so much is meeting people and making new friends, which is why I pushed for more social/party games in term 1 (such as Articulate, which has been a hit with everyone)--something that I hope to continue to do over the next year as your activities officer. Let’s get everyone inducted into BGS!
