Ever since I started to do Bhangra at a young age, I found myself having a passion for participating in shows and want to extend the joy I get from learning this skill to others. I have been performing for around 10 years and the recognition I received from this Iead to me starting up classes, which was something seen for the first time in our school. I enjoyed improving my skills over the years and wanted to continue this in UCL’s Bhangra society hence I attended classes weekly and was fortunate to make it to the team for Rangeela. This has been one of the highlights of my Bhangra experience as it showed me the dedication required in rehearsing and gave me the opportunity to form connections with my team. I learnt a great deal from this year’s captains, including how to improve my technique and provide feedback for myself and the team. I would like to be treasurer of the society as I understand the importance of increasing sponsorship for the society, especially if we want to compete or perform. I would reach out to appropriate businesses to allow for reduced prices of merchandise and Bhangra equipment but would also like to donate a percentage of this to a charity to fulfil the society’s social responsibility. I would also work closely with the president and student union to make sure transactions within the society occur swiftly and efficiently to provide a better service to our members. I will always put the members best interests first.
