I've been able to successfully run the wider operations of the club this past year as president, and I want to widen the social experience and activities for our club members. I have the understanding and experience to provide a wide range of social activities and interactions for the club and want to provide similar experiences to the sports night socials, but also club dinners (e.g. curry house), as well as committee dinners and drinks! I know how to party - let's party.
Wet like I'm Book.
This has been my first year being part of the Men's Basketball Club and it has honestly made my university experience much better. Having not been in London for my first year because of the pandemic, I came for my second year without really knowing anyone. However, once I joined the Basketball team I immediately started making friends and this was largely possible due to the great and friendly environment. As a social secretary, I would hope to continue with and further improve this environment so that any student with a passion for or interest in basketball who might have trouble settling in would feel comfortable with joining and would be welcomed to a club with a great social and friendly environment.
One of my favorite moments this year was the club dinner where players from all three teams got together, shared stories and had a great night and so I would focus on organizing more social events like these. I believe the social events are a massive part of facilitating better team chemistry as well as creating an enjoyable team environment. I would also try to organize more social basketball events to give those who might be interested in basketball but have played very little before the chance to play in an organized setting. All in all, I believe I would be a good fit for the social secretary role as I am committed to further work on progressing the club and due to my past experiences with event organization as I was part of the student council in my High-School.
