Matthew Zwijacz

Hello everyone!

I am Matthew, a 2nd-year BSc architecture student. Having done an online year alone in the middle of a forest, coming to London I realized you do not have to be alone to feel lost while studying at the Bartlett. Running for a Welfare Officer, I want to help students that struggle in this environment, as being surrounded by so many talented people can become overwhelming. Having seen how my friends and I myself struggle, trying to address tutors' critics and meet our own expectations, I want to help to create a healthy environment and help the students to manage their stress and improve their wellbeing.

Having been a president at my high school, I helped to address the problem of students' wellbeing while communicating with the school board. I am always keen to communicate with other students, to understand their issues. I believe everyone's experience at the Bartlett is different and we need to hear out many voices to create a friendly studio culture.

If you choose me your Welfare Officer, I aim to:

1. Communicate with students to understand their problems and review the current studio culture at the Bartlett

2. Analyze and propose changes to the existing student support system

3. Organize events within the society regarding stress management, work-life balance, etc.

4. Make sure the students know available services and how to access them

If you have any questions you can approach me any time, either via email or at UG8 space!
