My determination to fight for animal rights started with a sad event. My uncle had the sweetest little border collie who I loved. She was hit by a truck and instead of helping, the driver took and ate her. I was devastated. Ready to tackle the absence of animal protection in China, I submitted a motion against a local regulation forbidding household ownership of large-breed dogs in 2019. Ultimately, the unjust draft was revised. I further submitted a letter to the PRC Ministry of Justice last year, proposing Chinese animal protection legislation.

Together with the Society, I visited the RSPCA shelter. Being a law student, I joined RSPCA as a volunteer legal assistant, hoping to bring justice. I also frequently share cases of animal brutality on social media to raise general awareness, especially concerning animal transportation. Realising there are more animal welfare issues than just food production, I started planning to develop an app for shelters to better match adopters and the animals with a reversed selection system. I hope that by joining the committee, more initiatives like this can be put into practice.

My experiences would also assist me in this role. At my old university, I organised the annual gala with over a thousand audiences present. I was also elected to be the president of the responsible association of over 50 officers.

Whatever I do, I devote my whole heart and I will continue to fight for animal rights.
