Hi, my name is Yordanos. I am a 1st Year Economics Student. As ACS Sponsorship and Careers officer, I would love to be part of the process of uplifting people like me, who are keen, academically capable students from underrepresented backgrounds. I know that the transition to university and the pressure put on finding the ‘right’ career can be overwhelming, which is why I will focus on supporting others through my role.
I plan to organise career events ranging from finance, law, and the arts to enhance career prospects and increase experience for students facing difficulty in career decisions. I hope to set up exclusive opportunities such as work experience, insight days, and conferences early in the academic year to make this transition smoother.
I feel I possess the necessary skills and motivation to thrive in this role. I have previously coordinated fundraising events in which I devised a plan and executed it effectively to successfully reach a goal, a key part of the role.Through my past experiences with firms like KPMG, HSBC, and UBS, I have developed strong communication and networking skills and gained a better understanding of the corporate world. With this, I aim to strengthen the position of the society by maintaining good relationships with current sponsors and strategising to obtain new partnerships.
As a result, I believe I can expand the network of the society and help ACS members reach their full potential.
