I've had a really positive experience with AMPSoc so far and I want to be a part of its continued success. There are 3 things I aim to achieve in the coming year:

1) Build a global network of industry partners. By building bridges with industry leaders within and outside of UK, I want to help members gain an understanding of how the industry works globally.

2) Greater diversity of activities. On top of our introductory talks and Q&As, I aim to organise more hands-on workshops and thematic talks on specific topics/skills (e.g. TikTok marketing,  Humour in advertisements, or anything our members request!)

3) Establish open communication with members. I want to hear what you guys want! I aim to provide regular updates through email newsletters and our WhatsApp group. I will also send out feedback forms after every event to better understand what everyone thought about them.

Getting to the part where I kind of toot my own horn, I've had working experience in the Singapore Police Force where I was mainly in charge of engaging the community so I’ve had lots of experience talking with residents and stakeholders from different backgrounds. During my time there, I also worked on a social media advertising campaign where I actively communicated with different departments and external agencies to get the project going.

I'm sure I can put these communication skills to good use to listen to our members and reach out to industry partners.

I am a first-year BA Media student running for Welfare & Communications Director for the Advertising, Marketing and PR Society. As a media student, I gained interest in Public Relations and Social Media. Utilising my previous experience in welfare and communications, I want to create a safe space for everyone willing to explore this industry filled with wonderful opportunities through this society.

I believe I am the perfect fit for this role as I have been the head of the social media department of UCL Cultured Minds, which is a volunteering activity that explores the relationship between mental health and culture by raising recipients' cross-cultural sensitivity to how mental health is seen in different countries and cultures around the world. My part consisted of creating and designing social media posts and stories promoting volunteer recruitment to other UCL students.

I was also a member of my high school's Guidance Committee, and I served as the committee president for four years. This was an opportunity for me to exert my knowledge of psychology and my leadership and communication skills by addressing the needs of students through observation. Throughout my presidency, I longed to help students and admin adapt to various transformations, focusing on socio-emotional well-being and promoting the idea that my peers should self-regulate while embodying composure being focused on intrinsic potential.

Advertising, Marketing, and PR. I didn't realize how important these were until very recently. These elements help build brands and communicate with target audiences, and without this, most firms would not be able to sustain. After completing courses on Digital Marketing and Media Analytics, I developed a thorough understanding of market research techniques, social media, and web analytics leading me to apply, and successfully receive a three-week spring internship with Trash Gxng, a streetwear clothing brand rooted in social impact.

As an avid writer and reader, I grew up with a passion for storytelling and observing cultures. Leadership positions in Humanitarian Society and events like TEDx and MUNs not only fostered ideas of civic-mindedness and team development but also integrity and determination. My diverse experience in this sector includes being Brand Ambassador of The Curators, a Premium British Made Protein & Keto Snacks firm, member of the Social Media Marketing Team of CorStitch, a social enterprise, and Student Ambassador of UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies. After every experience, I realized how marketing and advertising gave a voice to products, products that were ideas of hardworking and sincere innovators.  I want to stand up for others, for ideas that promote equal opportunity to all and I believe I can do that as a Welfare and Communciations Officer at the UCL Advertising, Marketing & PR Society.
