What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected, I will work hard to represent my hall community to improve the quality, affordability, and accessibility of student housing at UCL alongside to the Accommodation and Housing Officer. I’ll advocate for expanding the UCL Rent Guarantor Scheme to help more students secure private accommodation and push for more substantial commitments to affordable rent levels to ease financial burdens on students. I’ll collaborate with Hall Reps and the Welfare & Community Officer to address maintenance issues and enhance living conditions. Regular drop-in clinics and feedback sessions will give students a direct voice in housing matters, creating a supportive and inclusive environment.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring advocacy experience, analytical skills, and a passion for improving student life to the role. As a UCL student with three years of experience living in various UCL accommodations, including UCL East, Ian Baker House, Ramsay Hall, James Lighthill House, John Adams, and Endsleigh Gardens, I understand students' housing challenges. I’m committed to addressing these issues by working closely with the student community. My involvement in UCL societies like the Bioethics & Medical Law and Business Society has strengthened my leadership and communication skills, which will help me effectively represent students and push for positive housing changes.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

It's not just a position to be filled; it's about personal experience, passion, and a commitment to making fundamental changes in UCL housing. Having lived in different UCL accommodations for three years now, I understand the challenges students face and will work tirelessly to improve the quality, affordability, and accessibility of student housing. My background in advocacy and involvement in UCL societies have equipped me with the skills to represent your interests effectively. I will be a strong voice for students, ensuring your concerns are heard and acted upon to create a supportive and inclusive housing environment.
