Ingrid W Chan

Hi, I’m Ingrid Chan, a first year studying International Social and Political Studies!

As head editor of my high school journal and marketing department intern, I am very experienced in designing posters, posts, and regulating social media sites. I can use a variety of mediums to make our social media sites creative and engaging, and help attract new members to the Diplomacy Society!

I HAVE…

  • Experience with graphic design on Canva, Indesign, and Photoshop from editing a journal and being a former architecture student
    • I have a good concept of colour theory, font pairings, and design skills due to my +17 years of experience as an art and architecture student
  • An organised and flexible approach – I can meet tight deadlines and update social media platforms regularly
  • Creative thinking skills – ideas such as interactive polls, more accessible info, shorts and informational videos…
  • “Pithy Phrases” – I can write engaging posts and updates for the website and make sure people are all caught up on Diplomacy Society news
  • A team player – I love working with others and learning from them, and I don’t mind networking with other societies. I have contacted media companies before so I’m not shy on reaching out and expanding the scope of the Diplomacy society!

I hope you will vote for me as your Marketing Official and I look forwards to designing and making your Diplomacy Society experience better through effective marketing, promotion, and interactive activities!

Antoine W H Truffert

After having worked in marketing for societies (Amnesty International and Enactus back in the Netherlands, Student Union in France), I am familiar with it

On a personal level, I wish to be Marketing Officer to be fully involved in the society and be aware of what is organised.

I understand the importance of marketing in organising events. When organising a conference with European deputy Raphaël Glucksmann at the level of my local town, it quickly became evident that you can't expect a massive turnout to an event without adequate promotion. Hence, I developed competencies in using many forms of marketing: social media, as well as reaching out to newspapers and being in charge of mailing lists.

In other engagements, I worked on writing newsletters for the society, so I'd love to work on this as well. During an internship with a French MP, I was in charge of updating her website, so I have some competencies in this too.

Like everyone in this society, I am passionate about diplomacy and foreign affairs, and thus want to have the best events possible. That means announcing them in advance through elaborate posts, which I have already done in the past! Of course, I would not just use the social media platforms to notify people of events, but take it further by making it interactive and making it a full component of the society: quizzes on the stories, thematic posts (around an event, country, person or theme). We cannot all attend the events, but we all can check social media!

Kris Sokas

Diplomacy for me is not only a career, it is a way of life. We use diplomacy in every day life, to avoid uncomfortable situations, gain trust and pursue our own agenda in interpersonal relationships.

While studying in a medical school I used diplomacy to approach disturbed and distressed patients. This way, practicing how to help people in need.

The start of my academic interest in Politics, I could say, was realisation of this concept. That is what pushed me to apply for the Politics and Sociology degree that I am currently doing. Diplomacy was always something I adored and what interested me a lot. That is why I joined the UCL Diplomacy society. I really enjoyed the company of like-minded people throughout our first term and it would be my honor to not only take from the society but also give back through an input into the smooth operation of society.

After my medical studies I went to study Finance and Marketing for a year, therefore I believe I could be an addition to the team of Diplomacy Society as a Marketing Officer.

From a marketing perspective, after having a look at what kind of information channels all the members of the society prefer the most through a census and considering the possibilities of the society, I would tune the marketing strategy accordingly. All, to suit the needs of our current members. As an Academic Representative of my course, and a head of marketing prefects in my boarding school, I always built everything on communication.

Donna Dong

As marketing officer I'll be in charge of managing the website as well as social medias to bring announcements to the rest of Diplomacy Society. I would love to have the opportunity to bring the exciting diplomacy events to everyone's timelines in a refreshing way.

I know my way around website design as well as social media management, and I am confident in my abilities to create streamlined infographics for the society! As the former President of the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy, it was my responsibility to update websites and social media + be the first point of online contact for those involved. These skills make me a well-suited candidate for marketing officer of Diplomacy Society !!
