Election post
I've been in Debating Society since my first year - I currently serve as a convenor - and have competitively debated since I was 14.
Debate is a passion through which I've developed professional and academic skills, learnt about new subjects, and made some of my best friendships and memories. My enjoyment and appreciation of debate has motivated me to try to provide debating opportunities for others, just as I luckily had them provided to me. This motivation led me to direct my high school's debate program, and also to work for several years as COO of a startup aiming to make debate more accessible; the startup amassed a 12k user waitlist with participants from 100+ countries.
Currently, I'm a convenor for UCL debate - recently having organized President's Cup & Winter Cup. As convenor, I've worked with multiple aspects of debate - competitions, events, finances, equity, training, communications, etc - all experiences which would aid me in the VP role.
If elected VP, I'd seek to continue and expand on the great work of our previous VP:
- Inclusivity & Community - foster a social, open, and supportive environment.
- Efficiency & Organization - enable members to extract the most from their experience in debate (whether this be socials, training, public debates, competing, etc).
- Longevity - growing our finances to facilitate more events, socials, competitions, etc.
I'm confident I have the experience necessary to succeed as vice president and I hope to serve you in the role!
