My name is Alessandra, I have been part of Women in Finance since the beginning of my second year at UCL. I aspire to work in the world of finance and working as a welfare officer would help me be more involved with the society and be able to make sure welfare in the society is as good as it can be. I am enthusiastic and care about the well-being of others and will give my all to fulfill my role as well as I can. 

Ishanvi Arora

As FYR Women in Finance, I have worked closely with the current committee and developed an understanding of the internal workings. My experiences in assisting and attending various events organised by society have pushed me to take up more responsibility and help drive the change we cause. 

In conversation with a previous committee member, I grew awareness of the difference in statistics for our events as compared to other non-gender-specific societies. Further, my participation in the AXA events wherein the 2 male students overpowered the 15+ female students in the QnA section has led me to believe that there is an underlying fear in women to participate and put themselves out there. As president, I want to work towards resolving this and giving all female students the backing and confidence to speak their minds. 

I will strive to maintain the current positive reputation, legacy and sponsorships while also working towards building on these strong foundations. 

I believe interaction with successful women in the sector who have already walked the path will provide all our members with motivation and inspiration to strive for nothing but the best irrespective of societal pressure and expectations. I would cause this by organising panel discussions and coffee chats followed by personal development workshops for LinkedIn, CV, cover letter, spring weeks etc. 

 

Alicia Hannam

Hi everyone! I’m Alicia, running for Women in Finance (WiF) society Welfare Officer.

I’ve been a member of the society for over a year, attending insightful events helping me secure work experience and an investment banking summer internship. I aim to enhance a sense of inclusivity with more socials for lasting impact.

As Welfare Officer, I want to prioritise welfare and community. I would like to be an approachable figure for mental or academic advice. With certifications in mental health wellbeing and stress-management, I am passionate about this and eager to implement it.

I’m involved in many organisations such as GAIN and STEM women; attending women in leadership talks and women’s insight events at banks. Potentially working with similar organisations, I aim to encourage more women into finance.

With a non-finance background, I would love to offer unique insight for applications and provide advice on using transferrable skills from any degree for a finance career.

My goals as welfare officer are to:

- Organise mental health awareness events, for the high-pressured and challenging finance world.

- Inspire women and members from diverse degree backgrounds creatively.

- Establish a place to talk, where I can offer support to members with any issues they are facing. Also creating events to overcome common issues among members.

Niharika Lal

Hi! I am Niharika, last years' consulting director of UCL 180DC, eager to bring the society to new heights as a Welfare Officer! 

As the consulting director of UCL 180DC, I have 1) networked with professionals from the industry and secured high quality projects for consultants to work on 2) led case study workshops and competitions 3) secured 3 long-term clients for UCL 180DC. Through this and more, I have learnt to organise large-scale society events with attention to the society members' needs, expectations, and wellbeing.

As a Welfare Officer, I aim to continue raising the quality and scale of UCL WinF by interacting with current UCL WinF members and collaborating with UCL WinF alumni to introduce even more diverse discussions and unique networking opportunities for all of you. 

It is no secret that WinF is close to perfection, however, there is always room to achieve more - that is what I aim to do.

Hello,

My name is Hanna and i’m a first year doing Management Science degree. 

I’ve been eagerly coming to multiple WiF events, always happy to network and learn more about investment banking or private equity. At each event, whether it was AXA case study, Berenberg event or the Share the Vision conference I’ve always been welcomed and provide with a safe space to explore the financial world as a women.

A collaborative student body can really help their peers achieve outstanding career outcomes. During my time at UCL I have immensely benefited from 180 Degrees Consulting Society’s networking events, information sessions and workshops, and wish to pay it forward by helping the society grow from strength to strength. For this reason, I am running for the Welfare Officer role. 

If elected as Welfare Officer, I will:

  1. Be the first point of contact for all members, and provide assistance regarding any individual, team or society-related issues.
  2. Increase member engagement through active recruiting, organising more events, and ensuring new members are onboarded with ease.
  3. Smoothen communication between members and the committee.
  4. Create a safe, collaborative and supportive environment to grow WiF

 By working closely with the WiF team, I hope to make your experience our society more informative, exciting and memorable.
