Thiviyaa Subramaniam

The main role of treasurer is to handle finances in an orderly manner, ensure budgets are met and everything runs smoothly. It requires close contact with the President, SU and other external parties, which means being good at building and maintaining relationships, professional and personal. I am a team player who loves a challenge and would love to use this opportunity to help create the events I enjoy going to and help bring new ideas to life in new creative and strategic ways.

From my previous experience in hospitality of handling budgets, leadership and time management and always being a team player I am confident I will be able to fulfil this role to the best of my capabilities.

Arunesh Uthayakumar

The Treasurer role requires responsibility when overseeing the society's financial activities and requires close collaboration with the Student union alongside senior members of the society such as the President and Vice Presidents in order to ensure events are run smoothly and efficiently via sponsorship. Budgeting remains a prominent aspect of this role as well as monitoring the financial inflows and outflows of the society. Having established a successful reselling business alongside 2 others, I am experienced in applying these skills to practical problems as well as being able to work closely with a team in order to deliver a service. Studying Economics has also developed my ability to work with finances. Establishing this business has heightened my teamworking abilities and this will contribute when communicating with various parties in the buildup to creating these events and further improving our society. This leads onto the skill of problem solving which becomes significant in the case where things do not go to plan and alternative measures will be needed in order to ensure success. Communicating with peers and taking aboard feedback in order to tailor the best possible experience for students in our society next year is something I look forward to being apart of. I believe I possess the required skillset in order to excel in this role and I look forward to being able to improve the society and assist in the organisation of future events if successful.

Karthig Thillaivasan

Hello, my name is Karthig Thillaivasan. Having been Media and Marketing director for the society over the last year, I have not only attended events at Tamil Society, but have also gained insights and put effort into promoting these events, organisation, planning and hard work. I have a real passion for the society and would love to be part of the committee once again to contribute to its success and create maximum value and lasting memories for all its members. As Treasurer, I plan to budget appropriately to continue the success of our small scale and larger events such as Panithuli and Dandanakka. Furthermore, I plan to organise and fund more social events at venues such as Flight Club, Simmons Bar and Bounce. I also wish to raise awareness of our rich culture around UCL, hosting Tamil games nights, food and music festivals and charity events. I also aim to facilitate new partnerships with restaurants, event organisers and educational sponsors to increase members’ access to discounted tickets and food, and provide careers support. Beyond this, I have the specific experience to effectively manage the finances of the society. This includes: working in excel as part of my university degree projects, networking and hosting talks in Surgical Society and iNUGSC. I have also developed and run charity events at school; and organised a variety showcase of Music, Dance, Comedy and Magic, where I managed sponsorships and ticket sales of over £3,000.
