Harry Dhaliwal

I am Harkirat Dhaliwal, a 4th year medical student, and I want to run for the clinical rep for surg soc  as I believe I can use my experience from my involvement with the surgical society throughout the past 4 years as both a member and a committee member to help improve the clinical representation of the surgical society. I was a part of the plastic surgery subcommittee, and was involved with the arrangement of the plastic surgery conference held this year which was massively successful. I learnt a lot about how to not only run a conference, but also how to organise events. This year in my first clinical year, I utilised a variety of teaching rescources run by the medical society and surgical society and these have been useful for so many students. I propose to help run more events catered towards helping students in clinical years and how to revise for and understand key topics that so many students worry about. Teaching from fellow students is so key to student education, and I propose to continue this as the clinical rep. I would also help promote the society to more people in the clinical years and try to improve engagement with the society in these older years.

Sidharth Sunil Menon

Hey, my name's Sidharth and I am standing to be your Clinical Rep for 2023/2024!

Shadowing neurosurgeons from an early age ignited in me an ever-strengthening passion for surgery which never stopped growing at UCL. I endeavour to contribute further in my final year of Medicine to Surgical Society and spread inspiration for surgery throughout UCL.

As Vice President of UCL Surgical Society, I have together with the President and the rest of the committee been involved in supporting all branches of the society in organization and leadership. A few of the activities I have been involved in as VP is leading the Peer2Peer mentoring scheme and coordinating the scheme between junior and senior years to deliver support, education and advice, organizing the Surgical Skills Course weekend in partnership with The Surgeon Theory and organizing along with the rest of the iNUGSC committee, the largest led UK student conference of the year; iNUGSC 2023.

I will strive to:

  • effectively aid in the marketing of our events to 4th, 5th and 6th year medical students
  • assist in and improve the facilitation of the Peer2Peer Scheme I personally led this year
  • drive greater intra-society collaboration between branches of the society in pursuit of events with special focus towards clinical year students
  • work with the education officers to improve upon the quality of the teaching towards clinical year students, especially the quantity and quality of tutorials available to 5th and 6th year students
